Gene Reeder Gene Reeder, RPh, PhD Director Summary of Expertise Gene Reeder, RPh, PhD, leads Managed Care Network, an Xcenda market research collaboration. Dr. Reeder holds an appointment as Professor of Pharmacy at the Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy in Clinton, SC and serves as a Director in the Strategic Market Insights at Xcenda in Tampa, FL. Prior to joining Xcenda in 2008, he was Professor of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy in Columbia, SC. He now holds the title of Distinguished Professor Emeritus at that institution as well. Dr. Reeder has a BS and an MS in Pharmacy and a PhD in Business Administration. His research and teaching interests include the economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals and medical interventions, drug benefit design, formulary management, and health care public policy. In addition to his academic background, Dr. Reeder has practice experience in the areas of community pharmacy, long-term care, and managed care pharmacy. He has served on several formulary management committees and has been involved in the application of evidence-based medicine in the formulary decision-making process. Dr. Reeder is a member of a variety of professional and scientific organizations and has published over sixty refereed articles in his field. He has also authored book chapters on pharmacoeconomics, outcomes research, research study design, and managed care pharmacy. In addition, he has participated in the grant submission and review processes at the state and federal levels and has a successful record of extramurally funded research. Much of his work has focused on the outcomes, intended and unintended, of health care and policy interventions. Dr. Reeder is a Past President of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy and a Fellow of AMCP. He is also a Past-President of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science of the American Pharmacists Association and a Fellow of that Academy. Dr. Reeder has also served as Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors for AMCP. He has received both the Outstanding Teacher and Outstanding Researcher Awards from the USC College of Pharmacy and was recognized in 2006 with the AMCP Distinguished Service Award. From 2006 to 2008, Dr. Reeder served as Chair of the Faculty Senate for the University of South Carolina and as the Faculty Liaison to and ex officio member of the USC Board of Trustees.
