Xcenda Celebrates Leadership in Oncology and Innovation

We are excited to celebrate the recipients of our first annual Dr. Mark R. Green Leadership in Oncology and Innovation Awards. These awards, named in honor of Xcenda’s former Chief Medical Officer, recognize individuals, teams, and innovations that exemplify the spirit, compassion, and passionate drive in advancing cancer care that was exuded by its namesake, the late Dr. Mark R. Green.

Three distinct awards were presented this year:

•Oncology Contributor of the Year

•Oncology Project of the Year

•Green Thumb Proponent of Innovation

The Oncology Contributor of the Year was awarded to an individual who expresses the same passion, values, and pursuit of excellence within the oncology space that Dr. Green demonstrated. Congratulations go to Kasia Shields, PharmD, MBA, BCOP, BCPS, as the inaugural winner of this award. As a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist and a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist with deep clinical knowledge and a passion for patients, Dr. Shields exemplifies the compassion that is essential when providing expertise and guidance regarding oncologic therapies and care. She leads our Oncology Task Force and has strengthened and grown Xcenda’s oncology expertise in the marketplace through her key role on the Medical Communications team.

The Oncology Project of the Year was awarded to a team of associates who exhibited deep collaboration, creativity, and focused on client-centric solutions in the oncology space. They also demonstrated innovation and excellence in oncologic care that strengthened not only their clients’ strategies, but also Xcenda’s efforts to further the advances in oncology care. This year’s award was given to the Challenging Cases-inspired Training Team, comprised of Arden Buettner; Mitch Scharf; Maria Lankford; Joanne Willey, RN, OCN; Susan Britton, RN, BSN, OCN, CCRC; Natalie Gysin; Cynthia Capizzo; Amy Garcia; Janet Hughes, MS; and Therese Mulcahy. Challenging Cases was an initiative near and dear to Dr. Green, making the award to this team very fitting. Their efforts epitomized innovation in the strategies that advanced and improved cancer care.

The Green Thumb Proponent of Innovation Award recognized an innovative and sustainable idea that offers value, opportunity, and differentiation for Xcenda while embracing that innovative spirit of Dr. Green. This year’s award was given to the Life Science Due Diligence Service Offering, submitted by Ben Parcher, PharmD, MS; David Campbell, PharmD, MS; and Tom Liu, MSc. This innovative idea will be further nurtured by the winning team to help viable health technologies ultimately get into the hands of needy patients.

About the Dr. Mark R. Green Oncology and Innovation Forum

Dr. Mark R. Green served as Xcenda’s Chief Medical Officer for over 10 years. While he is remembered for his intellectual brilliance and encyclopedic knowledge of clinical oncology, it was his genuine compassion for others who faced the challenges and trials of oncologic care that is perhaps most memorable. To honor his contributions and memory, Xcenda created a forum and annual awards to celebrate his legacy.  The Dr. Mark R. Green Oncology and Innovation Forum promotes the drive and passion for innovation and advancement of oncology just as Dr. Green did during his extraordinary career.
