Vice President, Field Services Client Engagement and Business Development
Melissa Mulchahey is Vice President of Field Services Client Engagement and Business Development at Xcenda. In this role, she leads Xcenda’s approach to client engagement for the Field Services Business Unit, guiding manufacturer clients to commercialization success. She serves as the primary executive for business development and strategy by managing and leading engagement efforts with Field Services’ key customers. Ms. Mulchahey works as an ambassador for Xcenda, its brands, and its sales organization by representing Xcenda at key strategic industry conferences and forums, and by developing, articulating, and communicating the vision and capabilities of the company to potential and existing pharma and biotech partners.
Before assuming her current role, Ms. Mulchahey provided senior level oversight and management support for several of Xcenda’s Field Reimbursement and Access Support teams. These teams are contracted by Xcenda’s clients, usually specialty pharmaceutical and biotech firms, whose products may face increased access and reimbursement scrutiny. These Field Reimbursement and Access Support teams use their specialized experience to help providers overcome reimbursement and access barriers at various sites of service, so more patients can gain access to therapies when they need them most.
Prior to joining Xcenda, Ms. Mulchahey’s career included 25 years of experience as a practice manager and hospital outpatient department manager. She was a reimbursement manager of the largest privately owned oncology practice in the United States with 54 physicians and 18 locations. Additionally, she has managed several other practices ranging in size from solo practitioner to the Emory University Cancer Center. Ms. Mulchahey was responsible for staff and physician reimbursement education, staff training, development of billing policy and billing, education training programs, payer relations and contract negotiations, reimbursement analysis, Medicare policy, and Medicare compliance. She also served as the key person for facilitating access to care for the uninsured and underinsured.
Ms. Mulchahey has over 25 years of experience in the specialties of oncology, immunology, neurology, and psychiatry, among others. Over the past 10 years she has developed content and live presentations in a variety of other specialties including organ transplant, women’s health, mental health, and pulmonology.
